Extended Swim Season

Passive solar collection adds 10 to 15 degrees of temperature, extending the swim season.

An additional benefit of our PowerLock Solar Safety Cover is passive solar collection. The sun heats the blanketed water, greatly increasing the temperature of the top layers of the pool. To maximize the heat gain, circulate the water with your pool pump during the time period the cover is exposed to the most sunlight. On average, this means circulating the warm water for 2 to 4 hours, usually between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Or forego using your pool pump and circulate the water the old-fashioned way! Master your cannon balls, perfect your backstroke, or work on your doggy paddle to passively circulate the water as you swim.

Independent lab tests have shown that our PowerLock Solar Safety Cover adds more heat to your pool than a solar/bubble cover. Furthermore, if your pool is heated with supplemental sources such as gas, propane, or electric, our cover can significantly reduce your heating costs. The PowerLock blankets in the heat and prevents overnight cooling from both evaporation and exposure to wind.
